“The attitude of the Minister of the Environment Sergio Costa towards hunters is unjustifiable and has nothing to do with the role he should play. The stop imposed by the ministry on the removal of the pochard and lapwing is yet another hostile act perpetrated to the detriment of hunting enthusiasts and reiterates that Italy is now a separate case, compared to Europe, in the management of hunting .
As Minister Costa should know well, given that he is the Minister of the Environment, the enemies of the pochard and the lapwing are the destruction of habitats and the lack of control of predators, certainly not hunting. Just as the Minister should know that the letter sent by the EU Commission to the Member States does not provide for the opening of an infringement procedure and it should be remembered that for the pochard, to date, the European Union has not provided for an international management plan and continues to be included among the huntable species. Instead of appealing to hypothetical infringement procedures of EU directives, Minister Costa can tell us if he wants to proceed with serious management of predators and habitats.
Much simpler and more functional to a real war against those who practice hunting, making them the scapegoat for any situation or criticality, isn't it, Mr. Minister? "
