Mr Barbara Mazzali, regional councilor of Lombardy (Brothers of Italy), emphasized an unfortunate situation: “An article full of inaccuracies and preconceptions: this is how the piece 'The lobby of hunters finances Lega and Fratelli d'Italia' was written, published on Sunday 17 October on Domani. And since I have been quoted in several places, I decided to reply, so that I am associated with hunters it fills me with pride, but I don't accept that things are said that are not true or distorted. Il Domani says that in the days before the Milan municipal elections on social media I showed myself with the rifle on his shoulder and I searched for votes in this world. I remind the journalist that in Milan (city, not province) there are very few hunters and it is much easier to come across a living room animalist.
Then the letter I sent to President Fontana asking for the resignation of those executives who had made a mistake with the hunting calendar, causing the suspension of the Tar. What the journalist forgets (purposely?) Or doesn't know (even worse!) Is that hunting is not only passion but also a strong economic inducement. If he had documented, he would know that it is worth 1,5% of national GDP between gunsmiths, manufacturers of ammunition, clothing, footwear, area managers and everything that orbits around us. We are talking about billions of euros and thousands of jobs.
Once informed of this, the journalist would have well understood how the error of the regional leadership not only blocked hunting as a personal passion, but also created significant economic damage to the region itself. Such errors cannot be accepted without consequences and for this I wrote to Fontana. As for the fact that I would have "animated" the hunters' demonstration in front of the Region, I want to specify that I was very proud to be there as a private citizen and aware of the fact that I could also have received boos because I am part of the institutions.
The fact that it was I who led a parade of 5 thousand angry hunters it is at the very least an imaginative and unrealistic reconstruction. And this makes it clear with what spirit and with what objectivity the article was written. With these premises, we come to the part where we talk about financing for the Brothers of Italy. Here too the journalist takes a double pike jump to prove his thesis. He writes that the funding came from 'Confagricoltura (which has a branch that deals with the protection of hunters)'. Ah, so the funding comes from Confagricoltura, why is it not written like this in the title? From the fact that there is a sector within it, the Domani deduces that the funds are from hunters. I mention other sectors that therefore, according to this bold logical step, are our financiers: horticulture, dairy sector, arable crops, various producers (honey, oil, fruit and vegetables, wine), zootechnics. At this point the title of the piece could very well have been 'I floriculturists finance Brothers of Italy'. Or not? That's not how journalism is done ”.
