Nikon PS 4-12 × 40 optics: the optics that never lose sight of the target ..

Nikon PS 4-12 × 40 optics: Finding a spotting scope on the market that has characteristics capable of satisfying every hunting need is not a utopia. Nikon's PS 4-12x40 comes very close to this idea of perfection.

Its technical specifications make this optic very versatile in different hunting situations, allowing the hunter a constant and precise acquisition of the target even in adverse weather situations.

What we will deal with today is the PS 4-12 × 40 spotting scope from Nikon, a famous company specializing in the optics sector.

The need to have, mounted on one's rifle, an optic capable of providing a perfect and clear framing of the target, determines a continuous updating of its products by the manufacturers of optics for hunting.

Nikon, in order to maintain its competitiveness in the international market, particularly in the hunting sector, continually proposes new products that have “undergone” these reinterpretations. One of these products is the PS 4-12 × 40.

Specifically, it is a very versatile telescope in the hunting field.

In fact, the PS 4-12 × 40 is an underwater optics with an anti-fog system that gives the scope a remarkable resistance and adaptability even in adverse weather conditions. The 40 mm lens, with a 4-12x magnification range and a BDC (Bullet Drop Compensation) reticle, patented by Nikon itself, make this lens able to "lock" the target you want to acquire with extreme ease and precision. .

The presence of a large objective results in surprising light transmission at any desired magnification. The adjustments that can be made are made with audible and precisely calibrated stops of ¼ MOA, in order to never lose sight of the target you are aiming for.

Furthermore, Nikon has also decided to reserve the BDC reticle, acronym for Bullet Drop Compensation, for this lens, a system that allows you to determine the correct point of aim for objectives located at long distances, through the presence of ballistic circles clearly visible in the moment in which you are aiming.

The PS 4-12 × 40 offers a generous eye accommodation distance of 91mm with all the magnifications that can be made.
As already mentioned a little while ago, the magnification range from 4 to 12x for use from short to medium distance, gives the optics itself an unparalleled versatility of use.

Nikon has found it appropriate to install a large 4mm lens on the PS 12-40 × 40, in order to obtain bright and very clear images, even in low light situations.

The diameter of the tube is one inch, while the knobs and caps for fine adjustment of the altitude reticle have audible stops of ¼ MOA, up to a maximum of 80 MOA. In addition, the waterproof and anti-fog structure of the PS 4-12 × 40, characteristics obtained through the O-ring and nitrogen gaskets, give the telescope a significant resistance to atmospheric agents. This allows the hunter not to worry too much if he suddenly finds himself in an unexpected pouring rain.

Finally, Nikon, for all lenses, uses and installs optical components in Eco-glass, ie free of lead and arsenic.
All these peculiarities make the PS 4-12 × 40 a very resistant and versatile optic in the hunting field, allowing the hunter a rapid and constant acquisition of the target.
