Omnium Woodcock Light, calling a rifle with the name of the prey for which it is intended is a difficult task. In Casa Rizzini they made this bet that they will know how to win, convincing even the most skeptical.
This over-and-under has features designed to perform the task to which it is called: hunting woodcock. The weight, the barrels and all the mechanics have been designed and designed for the most elusive of birds. It is very rare to find rifles that bear the name of the animal they specialize in hunting. Many manufacturers, in fact, tend to build rifles that embrace multiple animal species, specifying only if it is a weapon suitable for ungulates or birds for example.
Rizzini, on the other hand, surprises everyone and launches a new challenge called Omnium Beccaccia Light, a rifle extremely specialized in hunting this bird. This is a very difficult and delicate challenge, since at Rizzini they are aware of the fact that they only have to convince potential buyers of the ability of this shotgun to carry out the work it was called upon to perform. Dedicating a part of the production to a single shotgun destined for a specific prey in the hunting field, means preparing an ambitious project that must be confirmed in the field.
As our readers are well aware, the woodcock, whose scientific name is scolopax rusticola, is a very fascinating and rather solitary bird. It has a particularly squat shape, has a long and robust beak, and a splendid camouflage plumage, which gives the woodcock the ability to camouflage itself and blend into the foliage of the undergrowth, its favorite habitat.
Rizzini's Omnium Beccaccia Light is, in fact, the answer to how to hunt woodcock. Specifically, it is a rifle dedicated precisely to hunting this bird, since its ergonomics, low weight and excellent swing, the latter obtained thanks to the proportionate length of the barrels, which is only 60 centimeters, means that this rifle is considered specific for woodcock. Obtaining a series of advantages for capturing a specific prey means paying attention to every detail and component that can make a rifle reliable.
At Casa Rizzini, attention was paid to the entire Omnium Beccaccia Light.
The main features of the Omnium Beccaccia Light consist of an ergal light alloy action frame and magnum chambered barrels and steel shot barrels, with a length of 60 cm. In particular, the choice of the length of the barrels makes this over-under very easy, fast and safe to swing, precisely to respond promptly to the acquisition of a very difficult target such as the woodcock. Some testimonies scattered around the net, assert that the modification of the rods to bring them even to 71 cm, absolutely does not affect the balance of the Omnium Light Beccaccia. Some hunters, in fact, on some forums, claim to have chosen 71 cm rods and that the field test went just as well as those with 60 cm rods. This would demonstrate the perfect versatility of this over-and-under, when a hunter wants to make changes to his weapon.
We, however, want to stick to the characteristics of the Omnium as it comes from the factory.
For this Rizzini over / under a set of 5 internal chokes and the respective key for their assembly was designed and supplied, in order to obtain the best advantages in terms of shot pattern. The Omnium Beccaccia Light has a selective single trigger, automatic extractors that make reloading very fast, a ventilated upper rib type slug and without side ribs. The front sight is in extra bright red optical fiber, there is a welded sling toggle and the action is embellished with lateral incisions showing the prey to be hunted with this over-and-under, namely the woodcock.
We said that even the weight contributes and participates in a relevant way to the specialization of the Omnium Light Beccaccia by Rizzini: in fact it is around 2,5 kilos. This determines, together with the barrels, an easy and harmonious swing of this over-and-under, in order to quickly and accurately aim the target.
At present the Omnium Beccaccia Light is only available in the 12 gauge, but rumors are circulating among the hunters that in the Rizzini house they are about to prepare the production to bring the caliber of this over-and-under to the 20, in order to meet the continuous needs that they come from the world of hunting.
As we have already said at the beginning of the article, Rizzini's Omnium Light Beccaccia represents a challenge, which we are sure that the house in Marcheno, in the province of Brescia, will be able to win big.
