Fourth edition
UNA Foundation – Man, Nature, Environment – communicates the results achieved so far by theOperation Paladins of the Territory, its most representative project, which has reached its fourth edition in 2025, and confirms the always excellent response in terms of participation. In fact, over 1000 people throughout Italy have already taken part in the UNA project, coordinated by more than 80 local sections of national hunting associations. Even in the spring months, hunters from all over Italy have mobilized in organizing volunteer initiatives of various kinds, from the maintenance of green areas to the removal of waste from the environment and up to the commitment made in dissemination and education activities aimed at schools and young generations, demonstrating, once again, what the reality of the contemporary hunting community is, inserted in the social fabric, active in its own territory and in the protection of the environment and natural balances.
The younger generations
Thanks to their efforts, over 9 kg of waste have been removed from the environment, much of it hazardous waste, and dozens of green areas in 14 regions have benefited from the restoration work of UNA volunteers. Over 20 initiatives have been organized to raise awareness among local communities on environmental and wildlife issues, or with the intent of promoting deeper environmental education among younger generations. “Operation Paladini del Territorio systematises all the initiatives that see hunters dedicate themselves to their community, with the aim of enhancing their social impact, which is real and important, but which is not talked about enough” commented Maurizio Zipponi, President of the UNA Foundation. “The Paladini’s activity reflects the care that the hunting community has always shown towards its chosen territory, and we are proud to expand, year after year, the scope of our project to meet the real needs of the citizens who live in those territories every day”.
Support from hunting associations
In 2025, with the project fully maturing, Fondazione UNA wanted to strengthen the bond between the hunting community and the territories of reference, opening the possibility of requesting the intervention of volunteers through the Paladini del Territorio help desk. A tool created following a careful listening to the needs of individual territories and already operational during the first months of 2025, the help desk is present on the Foundation's website and open to anyone who needs the support of hunters. Through this project, Fondazione UNA further substantiates its concrete commitment to environmental protection, reaffirmed over the years through membership in partnerships such as IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, and Mountain Partnership – FAO, the official United Nations partnership dedicated to improving the lives of mountain populations and protecting mountain environments around the world. Also for this fourth edition, the initiative can count on the decisive support of the member hunting associations - Federcaccia, Enalcaccia and Arcicaccia - which have activated their own clubs throughout the country to promote and carry out the various volunteer activities.
