To deal with the wild boar emergency, the ballistics expert is now arriving. To make use of this figure will be the Province of Padua, who will entrust him with the task of indicating precisely where to place the points from which it will be possible shoot ungulates, defining their location so as not to create dangerous situations for people and other animals. In particular, the distance from the homes, the height of the location, the possible trajectory of the shot must be established, in order to allow operators to act in absolute safety. The criticalities caused by the massive presence of wild boars, in fact, persist throughout the territory of the Hills and therefore there are many contrasting operations implemented by the institution of Palazzo Santo Stefano, which mainly concern in the Vallette area in Ospedaletto Euganeo, where the specimens that escaped from the Regional Park have settled and are multiplying.
The Province is coordinating the initiatives in collaboration with the Region, the Euganean Hills Park, some municipalities in the area most affected by the problem and representatives of trade associations. Vincenzo Gottardo, deputy vice president, who is responsible for agriculture, illustrates the interventions that are about to be implemented. "The first solution - he underlined - is to delimit the area where there is the greatest number of wild boar presences with a wire mesh fence. fixed that precludes them access to the "grove", where they find shelter. The project, however, met with some resistance from some landowners adjacent to the area.
In the meantime, just to limit the escape of the specimens towards the crops, a “barrier” with electric tape will also be created, which requires more frequent maintenance of the greenery, to avoid unpleasant inconveniences ». The plan also includes other interventions. "In addition - continued Fabio Bui's deputy - we will proceed with the installation of the roof terraces, to allow the capture of the garments through direct killing even with the conveyance of trained personnel who work inside the park. This activity integrates that of capture with the six manhole covers purchased by our offices, an operation coordinated by the provincial police which also provides for the killing of wild boars, whose management is entrusted to trained operators ». «Before proceeding with the installation of the fixed firing points, such as for example the roof terraces, however, it is essential to carry out a ballistic survey, to define their location with absolute certainty, so as not to jeopardize the safety of the people - continued Gottardo.
The Province, therefore, intervened immediately, entrusting the task to an expert expert in order to urgently proceed with the obligations and installation. We cannot waste time, prompt action is needed to solve the problem because the damage to crops is enormous. The damaged area is expanding and above all with the first sowing of corn there are many hectares of crops damaged by the raids of wild boars ». The problem, among other things, is also expanding in the Municipalities of Battaglia Terme, Pernumia, Cervarese Santa Croce, Teolo and in a part of the territory contiguous to the Parco Colli, where the presence of some specimens has been reported by the residents (Il Gazzettino).
