Suggestive Sardinian region, Gallura is an ideal hunting holiday destination for those who want to rediscover the link with nature and the land, with good food and with the sincere and courteous Sardinian hospitality.
Sardinia is all beautiful, especially if you love the sea, and if you have an unbridled desire for beaches, what everyone does not know, however, is that the island is not only pristine beaches but also spectacular hinterland, a real gift of Mother Earth. Dense vegetation, fragrant Mediterranean scrub, glimpses of paradise cascading over the sea, clear skies and warm days await all hunters who will venture into Gallura, in the far north of Sardinia, for an old-fashioned hunting holiday, organized well in advance and with a good number of friends to have fun with.
Of course, getting the trip organized by an agency is much easier, but the hunter loses the taste for planning, especially since in Gallura there is certainly no shortage of hunting reserves and farmhouses willing to accommodate a good number of hunters. For example, there is the Agriturismo Pausania, which has an agricultural estate of about 120 hectares, less than 12 kilometers from Tempio Pausania from which it takes its name. The surroundings that surround the hunting company are exactly as you can imagine: cork forests, Mediterranean scrub and granite that sprout from every corner in evocative and wild shapes. The hunting reserve made available to visiting hunters is 300 hectares wide, and inside it you can hunt, during the periods allowed by the calendar in force, to the typical Sardinian species: the partridge and the Sardinian hare, the turtle dove, the blackbird and the thrushes. You can also test yourself by challenging in wild boar hunt autochthonous, strictly in the wild, so as not to detract from the taste for hunting.
A pleasant interlude between a hunting trip and a walk in the Sardinian woods will be the lunches and dinners offered by the farm, strictly children of the local gastronomic tradition. Strong pieces, which make your mouth water just to name them are the frattau bread, roasted suckling pig and lamb and the cordula. All naturally washed down with excellent local wine and followed by the inevitable Sardinian desserts: seadas and papassini. Even the rooms are not bad at all: there are eight available, so the advice is to book early, especially if you are in large groups. All are well furnished, but most of all have a private bathroom and heating. Obviously you can also opt for a "family" trip. During the hunting trip, the wife and children will be able to reach the most famous beaches of northern Sardinia, the wonderful hamlets of the hinterland, or go on excursions to the archaeological beauties, which abound in the area. And if after the day of hunting you are not exhausted, you can try your hand at excursions by mountain bike or on horseback, you can admire the species raised around the company and have fun with the bird hunt. In short, the Pausania farmhouse helps the visitor to re-establish a sincere contact with the Sardinian wilderness, proposes a return to the land and to the wonders that only she can offer.
