The tests of some Beretta rifles on the skeet shooting range of Bettolino (BS) have proved to be an excellent opportunity to fire several cartridges of the new Fiocchi Performance HP 37 series. These cartridges are presented in an elegant cardboard box with of a black and white photo with the inclusion of very subdued colors: the technical indications in clearly legible handwriting are appreciable where you start with the word Performance to indicate the high class of the company's production.
Following is the acronym HP 37 which indicates the high performance and the weight of the pellets contained, with 1 gr more than the classic maximum loads related to the caliber positioned for a long time on the 36 g: then follow the specification of the caliber, 12, highlighted by the red background, the length of the case equal to 70 mm, the height of the caseback of 27 mm on which the inscription “Superfiocchi” is imprinted, which brings to mind the most seasoned hunters epic loads of hare or ducks; further specified the weight of the charge equal to 37 g and the type of wad, suitable for long shots, therefore a plastic wad equipped with a container suitable for preserving the shot from deformation due to sliding against the walls of the barrel. On the sides of the package there is then the n ° which determines the section of the single dot according to the English scale which, in our case is 7.
On the platform
The Beretta 690 Field I Vittoria over-and-under is ready: we take some of the ten cartridges inserted in each box appreciating the chromatic choice of the case with olive green tones, the silver writings that stand out well on the bottom together with the brass of the caseback: the pressure of 1050 bar, value for which the speargun must be banked. By inserting the cartridges in the chamber, we observe the precise star closure, the DF trigger suitable to release its full potential to the load and orient, out of an old habit, the Fiocchi inscription on the caseback before closing the weapon. Once again the shape of the stock does not reward us or rather, our structure does not match the standard measures valid for a large majority of possible users: the result of the shot will therefore be spoiled by a marked elevation that we try in vain to correct, succeeding. only occasionally.
The firing sensations, even of the two shots in rapid succession, are decidedly favorable even if the weight of the rifle is certainly not equal to that of a clay pigeon specimen, but the balance given by the slight growth of the central mass, the one placed between the two hands, the balancing and drilling of the barrels with section at the top of the caliber, gentle gradient of the slopes of the elongated cones ultimately offer very attenuated sensations of recoil, very different from those predicted by the different ingredients used. The useful engagement distance of this cartridge far exceeds our normal forecasts with second barrels fired for signature honor and which instead prove to be perfectly capable of breaking the clay pigeon.
For the Lord's sake…. never MORE BOWS !!!!!!!!! complete disappointment with hp and pl flakes two rip-offs.
