Following the placing on the market of the semiautomatic Benelli Raffaello Ethos chambered for the 28 Magnum cartridge Fiocchi di Lecco presented its cartridge by inserting it in the called area Magnum Performance. The cardboard box packaging with a hunting scene in a black and white background and golden and glossy writings captures the attention: the measures that characterize this cartridge are shown on a horizontal rib, starting from the 28 gauge to continue with the same length of the case. at 76 mm, that of the caseback of 16 mm, the 33 g that form the shot charge and the PLC * wording concerning the synthetic container wad. All these data are reported on several faces of the container, only the numbering of the dots appears only on the upper face, the one that acts as a lid we find a simple white box on which the writing 7 (ø 2,5 mm) stands out. On the back, in addition to the printed writings concerning safety in handling and the prescription of use only in shotguns that have passed the 1320 bar test at the BNP, a label is still applied which shows a bar code together with the salient characteristics already mentioned for end with the selling price of € 16,75 for the 25 cartridges contained.
The appearance of the product is, as always, very accurate: you can see the brass back with the primer pocket, obviously of the magnum type, the red plastic tube with longitudinal microstriations and the six-fold heat-closing. The writings in elegant well-sized characters show the name of the manufacturer, the word Magnum, the caliber 28, a highlighting box with the numbering of the dots, the weight of the load and the words “Max. 1050 BAR "; the profile of a flying duck completes this list.
The field test was entrusted to a morning of hunting at the AFV of Arborio: da Bows everything that is expected arrives on time so we have a cartridge that we would define as extremely fluid and performing, pleasant to shoot, without annoying pressure peaks and recoil, with a lethality that leaves you astonished when you think that you are using a 28 which, albeit magnum , it always is.
