Unknown thieves sneak into a hunting reserve in Cantello, in the province of Varese, and steal about seventy pheasants.
The theft of pheasants could be connected with the nearby Christmas holidays for which the wild ones could end up on the table of the thieves themselves or in the restaurant business.
In the night between Monday and Tuesday, unknown thieves entered the hunting reserve of the Cantello (VA) wildlife company without being seen by anyone and once inside they headed to the shed where more than one were hundreds of birds.
At this point, the thieves took steps to let the pheasants into some cages and then transported them outside the wildlife farm, loading them on vans and then running away making them lose their tracks. of the facts on which the Carabinieri of the Viggiù Station are investigating in order to trace the perpetrators of the theft as soon as possible.
Considering the organization of the theft and the difficulty of "collecting" wild animals to get them into the cages, one could think of professionals in the breeding of birds ready to place the stolen items in other game reserves or in the meat market in view of the upcoming holiday season. Each specimen could be sold at a price ranging from 40 to 60 euros each for a total value of the stolen birds of a few thousand euros.
A second hypothesis about the perpetrators of the theft could lead to the animal rights trail, namely that a group of animal rights activists could have entered the hunting reserve to steal the birds to be released later in order to save them from the hunters' guns.
