The Carabinieri surprised a 60-year-old doctor, residing in Savona, while he was hunting roe deer in a prohibited area, as it is covered by wildlife restrictions, in the countryside of the Piedmontese Val Bormida.
The man was on board his SUV where the Carabinieri found a regularly detained hunting rifle equipped with a sophisticated precision optic and to which a torch had been applied for night hunting; binoculars and an ax were also found on board the vehicle. A subsequent inspection at the man's farmhouse also found about a hundred hunting cartridges illegally detained.
All the illegal material found was seized by the Carabinieri who then proceeded to report the doctor in a state of freedom to answer for the crimes of abusive carrying of weapons, violations relating to the custody of weapons, illegal possession of ammunition and violations relating to the legislation for the fauna protection.
