Poaching in Irpinia. With the closing of the hunting season for the wild boar hunting, the carabinieri have put in place a series of services within the protected places such as the Parco dei Monti Picentini, where even in the past cases of poaching had been recorded.
The military surprised two poachers who, on the Laceno plateau, were making a joke of hunting with wild boar. The immediate control then made it possible to seize the weaponry of poachers, two 12-gauge semiautomatic shotguns, in their possession used for the abusive exercise of the hunting activity and the relative ammunition: about twenty single-bullet cartridges that they would have used to kill some wild boar.
Furthermore, in the context of the same device, the carabinieri of the Compagnia di Montella denounced 4 other people, coming from the Neapolitan hinterland and directed to the wooded areas of Alta Irpinia, held responsible for the mistreatment of animals. The military stopped the four men who, inside the rear hood of their car, had crammed three large dogs into cramped carriers. No possibility of movement and severe suffering for the animals due to the objective difficulties of space and breathing.
For the six people arrested, a report was made in a state of freedom to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Avellino: the two poachers were deferred for the crime of "hunting in a protected area and in a period of prohibition" while the other four hunters for " animal abuse ".
