Poaching in the Treviso area. Yesterday, Wednesday 2 November, there were two interventions, in the Municipality of Conegliano and Colle Umberto, which prevented the carrying out of poaching activities aimed at the capture of species of birds of which hunting is also prohibited.
At about 7, the 67-year-old Mr. CA had gone to fix the nets developed for about 40 meters, as well as placing near them some cages containing birds with a recall function, including species forbidden to hunting.
The agents of the Provincial Police intervened immediately blocked the operation and proceeded to the release of a flounder and a robin, protected birds, of which hunting is also prohibited. Once the abusive capture facility was removed, officers heard poacher a's coming from the nearby home song of birds; after checking, they found cages containing illegally detained specimens, that is, two siskin and three flounder birds.
At 10.00, Mr. VD, 69 years old, was practicing fowling with 10 mist-nets, linear development of about 75 meters, stretched and in operation in a vineyard adjacent to his home. The poacher was surprised at the capture nets where he had also placed some cages containing, for the purpose of recall, two stone thrushes, a sparrow, two blackbirds, a finch and four brambles, with the presence therefore also of subjects forbidden to hunt .
Both poachers were reported on the loose and everything illegally detained was seized in both cases and subsequently reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Treviso which will issue the related criminal sanctions.
The law provides for the following penal sanctions for those who practice fowling: imprisonment for up to one year or a fine ranging from 750 to 2000 euros approximately; for the illegal keeping of birds against which hunting is prohibited, a fine of up to 1500 euros.
