Poaching in the Fasanese area. The agents of the Forestry Corps of Ostuni, during a territorial control service in the Brindisi countryside aimed at countering the phenomenon of poaching unfortunately still very present in many rural areas throughout Italy, surprised a 53-year-old man who hunted birds belonging to protected species.
During the patrol, in fact, the agents heard some rifle shots from a nearby area; in a short time the men of the Forestry were able to reach the area affected by the shots and after a short stakeout they managed to identify a man in a clear attitude to hunting who still held the rifle.
Once he reached the subject, the agents subjected him to a police check by examining the game bag in his possession; the inspection revealed that among the other bird species there were 7 finches, a protected bird species whose hunting is prohibited by national legislation.
Upon completion of the investigations, the man was reported on the loose and both the shotgun and its ammunition as well as the illegally killed birds were seized against the subject.
