Poaching in the province of Trento. Last Tuesday (6 October 2015, ed.) The Agents of the Forest Station of Borgo, assisted by a gamekeeper of the Association hunters Trentini, carried out an anti-poaching operation in the Novaledo area.
During the operation, they surprised a man intent on hunting in a day of hunting silence. The man was later found in possession of weaponry illegal live calls and poaching tools for the illicit capture of wildlife.
During the service aimed at controlling the hunting activity in the Novaledo area, the Foresters heard a rifle shot coming from a hut for hunting migratory avifauna. The shed, which among other things was too close to houses and on the border with the Roncegno reserve, consisting of a beach umbrella masked by sheets and branches, was occupied by a man from Novaledo.
At the time of the check, the subject was in possession of an 8-caliber rifle with a shot in the barrel and a recently fired cartridge case but lacked the necessary documents to carry out the hunt which he declared he had left at home; about the shot heard shortly before, the character reported that he fired a shot just to test the cartridges, but that he did not hit any animals.
A subsequent check at the man's home revealed that he was in possession of a valid hunting rifle license but two rifles were found, one of which with an alteration of the serial number, several cartridges, gunpowder and unreported ammunition.
In addition, the poacher kept seven mistletoe-covered panie used for fowling, two steel snares, an iron trap to capture small mammals, 29 plucked and frozen turdidae, a song thrush, three squirrel specimens, ten plucked specimens of birds of small size of unidentifiable species and a live specimen of siskin not ringed presumably used as a decoy.
Finally, a check of the culling card showed that no animal had been marked by man, therefore the Forestry Agents proceeded to challenge the poacher for its administrative violations, denouncing him on the loose for violations of a criminal nature; all weapons, ammunition, shot down items and material found were confiscated.
