Poaching. No respite for wildlife, the hunting season is now closed but only for the honest hunters while the poachers continue their activity often undisturbed.
The voluntary hunting guards of the Salerno Enpa have completed yet another anti-poaching operation in the Nocerino Sarnese countryside. This time in the heart of the Sarno River Regional Park area, where a shed used as a stalking was identified hunting for ducks complete with plastic molds, live decoys in cages, cartridges for shotgun and, most absurdly, paper bombs.
The operation began before dawn on the recommendation of some citizens. A first stakeout made it possible to identify the area in the municipality of Scafati. Once on the spot, the ENPA volunteers noticed a large column-shaped cage containing thrushes and along the river bank an ambush with plastic molds reproducing some species of anatidae including mallards, teals, gadflies, lapwings, curlews. and Pivieri.
In addition, three Mallards were held in a cage in precarious hygienic conditions. And a few meters away an unauthorized shed built with ferrous material and common reed; intact cartridges and four paper bombs were found inside the artifact, the largest with at least 4 kg of gunpowder.
After some investigations, the owner of the land was identified and declared that he was also the owner of the live calls not ringed and of the song thrushes kept in cages. The intervention of the Carabinieri of the local station was then requested on the spot for the correct management of the bombs, ammunition and to carry out the seizure of what was found including the live birds and the decoy molds were seized because they were placed in the Park area.
