Two hunting dogs were rescued this afternoon, Sunday 26 December, after falling for about eighty meters into a steep gully. The Fire Brigade of Spilimbergo, assisted by the Speleo alpino fluviale team of Pordenone, intervened in Frisanco near path 968 to carry out the recovery of two hunting dogs who, having gone away from their master, had ended up in a gully difficult to identify and were unable to go down or up due to the considerable jump of rocks.
After some volunteers from the Alpine Rescue had tried in vain to reach them from below, the fire brigade left the vehicles at the start of path 968, behind the Santa Maria Monastery in Taviele. Following the indications of some local hunters, they walked about 400 meters in altitude and then descend at the jump of rocks overlooking the channel.
After setting up a system of ropes anchored to trees, two operators descended for about eighty meters, where they met the first dog in a relatively safe area. The second was about 25 meters further down, in a rather precarious position, on a narrow ledge before a vertical jump of several meters. After reaching him, reassured and harnessed, it was possible to recover both animals. The operations were completed after about 3 hours of work, most of which in the dark. The two dogs, Agata and Birba, were returned in perfect health to the owner who was waiting for them at the base of the path (Il Gazzettino).
