THETerritorial Area of Hunting Power 3 has published a notice for participation in two training courses: the first is intended for future experts in the census and the taking of ungulates, the second for ungulate harvesting operators with the technique of tight turn. They have been made available 150 total seats, but if the applications exceed the available places, admissions will take into account the residence and the chronological order of arrival.
To be admitted it is necessary to have the firearms for hunting purposes for at least three years, without forgetting the absence of definitive criminal convictions as regards the illegal pursuit of hunting activities. The minimum age is equal to 21 years of age, while the maximum must not exceed 75. Participants must also be in possession of rifled guns with a caliber between 5,6 and 8 millimeters.
What will the lessons and subjects be? After having learned the generalities on ungulates, therefore the systematic classification, the main characteristics, the ecology and distribution of Italian species, we will move on to the principles and techniques of conservation and management, in particular catches and reintroductions.
Another lesson will be dedicated to sampling, with hints on "programmed" hunt and selective withdrawal, but there will be lessons on individual hunting, the recovery of wounded items and the control of the culled animals. The ungulates examined will be wild boar, roe deer, red deer, fallow deer and mouflon. The final exam will consist of a 30-minute written test with 25 multiple choice quizzes and an oral test: it will be completed with two shooting tests at an authorized shooting range.
