Today, Tuesday 22 March 2016, there was an important meeting at the headquarters of the Province of Lodi which involved three other provincial administrations, that of Piacenza, that of Cremona and that of Pavia. The appointment allowed to discuss the poaching and its contrast and containment, specifically those phenomena that take place in the waterways of the respective territories, in particular in the Po river. As can be read in the joint official note, the poachers have come to literally plunder the areas, also using tools that are typical of professional fishermen.
XNUMX people Mauro Soldati, president of the Province of Lodi, Francesco Rolleri, number one in the province of Piacenza, Charles Vezzini, president of the Province of Cremona, and the commander of the Provincial Police of Pavia: the provincial police forces of the other territories were equally present. Local regulations were examined to try to understand if alignment is possible: some of these provinces have already "lost" the fishing-hunting skills that have recently passed to the regions.
Just in the last few weeks the Emilia Romagna Region has limited professional fishing between the two banks of the Po, effectively blocking it at night. The agreement reached was very important with regard to fish-hunting surveillance, one of the competences that the provinces will be able to retain: in detail, the Province of Lodi has undertaken the commitment to draw up a protocol to organize this same supervision in an even more joint way, trying to share means and men between the territories, so as to have a better defense against poaching. As explained by Rolleri, currently one can count on 150 guards, a number that is destined to grow.
Others will be trained, sharing the various professions and teaching. Safeguarding the ecosystem is one of the objectives to be achieved quickly. The problem should not be underestimated, so much so that just two weeks ago two Moldovans were fined after being pinched in action between Soarza (right in the province of Piacenza) and the Polish. At the beginning of this March, however, there was much talk of the first ecozoophile guards in Polesine, with a course started immediately after the announcement and the participation of many fish and hunting guards. Their action is aimed at educating and raising awareness of respect for nature and the environment, with constant territorial surveillance to suppress environmental crimes. The appointment of the guards is up to the Prefecture and the employment can also be extended to facts relating to pollution.
