29 August 2011 - The pre-opening of the hunting season is also almost certain for the Tuscany Region; the Regional Council towards the approval of the advance on the Hunting Calendar but the protest of the environmentalists is immediate.
In six out of ten Tuscan provinces the pre-opening days of the season will be 1 and 4 September while for the remaining four provinces the pre-opening will be only for one day instead of the third Sunday of the month as required by the approved Hunting Calendar for the 2011/2012 season. The news, like every year, creates two confronting factions: on the one hand the people of hunters eager to immerse themselves in nature to follow their passion and on the other the people of environmentalists who believe the pre-opening harmful for the ecosystem.
In fact, the WWF replies immediately, considering the pre-opening period of the hunting season to be particularly delicate in the biological cycle of many species; well in advance, the association had threatened to appeal to the Regional Administrative Court in the case of the approval of the early start days but this possibility becomes inapplicable given the very short time between regional approval and the actual dates of the days set for pre-opening.
The protests of the WWF remain in place against the management of hunting by the bodies in charge which, according to the representatives of the association, is not made on the basis of scientific studies and data collected but only on the basis of the requests of the hunters' people.
