A channel to investigate
The Monfalcone MEP Anna Maria Cisint (Lega) has highlighted a question that has so far been little discussed: “For some time now we have been receiving news regarding the existence of a privileged communication channel between the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission and some stakeholders in the Italian animal rights world”.
Wildlife management
“The aim would be to provide targeted indications in order to initiate infringement procedures against the work of the Italian Government regarding legislative measures adopted in environmental matters, with particular reference to the management of wild fauna and hunting activities, the latter being the exclusive competence of the Member States”.
Questions of competence
“Starting from the assumption that the European institutions and in particular the Commission, must necessarily be guarantors of impartiality on the various issues of competence, I have forwarded to Jessika Roswall, European Commissioner for the Environment and to the Directors of the Directorate General for the Environment, a specific request for access to the documents for the correspondence exchanged, over the last five years, between the EC and Italian stakeholders on the subject of wildlife management and hunting activities”.
