Two weeks ago, the human-led migration of 25 Hermit Ibis from Austria and Bavaria to Toscana. As reported by the editors of the "Life +" project, the birds will spend the winter season at theWWF Oasis of Orbetello. After three stages the team has arrived in the province of Ferrara and the flock will be able to start again as soon as the weather conditions improve. The next stop will be Borgo San Lorenzo, in the province of Florence, to then reach the final one.
There was no lack of misadventures, such as the attack by some golden eagles and two Ibises are still missing from when they broke away from the group at Belluno. For this reason, help was asked for their research: the first Ibis is called Mali and has ring 145, the other is called Juliet (ring 128). The collaboration of all, first and foremost hunters, will be crucial, so we must pay the utmost attention especially today, Thursday 1 September 2016 and Sunday 4 September, with the hunting activity opened in Tuscany.
As mentioned in the official note, the Ibises can be easily confused with the gray crows, but they are not huntable like the latter. Tomorrow, Friday 2 September, the flock in guided migration will be able to be admired in Tuscany.
