There are no conditions to move the wolves from Lessinia. This is how the Ministry of the Environment replied to the Region which had proposed this possibility following the problems highlighted by the local administrations for the presence of wolves in the Veronese mountain area. This was announced by the regional councilor for hunting Daniele Stival who received a negative response to the request sent in April from the Directorate General for the Protection of Nature and the Sea of the Ministry of the Environment. "The ministry - Stival points out - in order to be able to provide an exhaustive answer to the question posed, turned to Ispra (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) for an opinion, in consideration of the degree of protection referred to the wolf enjoys national and community level. In its opinion, Ispra summarizes the situation of the wolf in Italy and, entering into the specifics of the proposed translocation of the specimens present in Lessinia, lists the reasons why this intervention is impracticable ".
"The technical opinion expressed by Ispra - adds Stival - was adopted by the ministry which therefore believes that there are no conditions to proceed with the request to move the wolves, without prejudice to the need to reduce the conflict between interests as far as possible. anthropogenic and conservation of the species ".
