How the events unfolded
Not only a tormented hunting calendar, the Marche also reserves a very particular news story that has to do with hunting. In the province of Fermo, a woman was in fact sanctioned and convicted on a very specific charge, interruption of public service. The reason is easy to say, the lady has protested against a wild boar hunt.
What the woman said
The protagonist's version of the story was put in black and white by Resto del Carlino which collected the words of the woman herself: "It happened that on a holiday I saw a wild boar hunting party right in front of the property, defined as control, with the help of local hunters and with the use of rifles and shotguns, authorized by the Province with the the help of the provincial police. There was no warning or even indications in the previous days telling us to be careful, to avoid going out or letting our animals out, no information to explain the reason for that decision".
Partial version
The lady also added: “I thought I was at risk, I filmed the situation with my mobile phone but I didn't do anything else, the woman continues. At most I took a few photos but I didn't come into contact with the hunters, who were also armed. However, I thought that the matter had ended like this, but after a few months I received a condemnation decree from the Fermo Public Prosecutor's Office where I was accused of having interrupted a public service. I paid the fine, even if I still don't fully understand the reason, but the criminal conviction weighs heavily on me and what I regret is that you can't even protest inside your own home to assert your reasons, in a situation that seemed to me completely dangerous for me and for others, without well-founded justification and above all without the necessary information for those of us who were involved anyway".
Animal Liberation's intervention
Meanwhile, the Animal Liberation association has said it is ready to resolve what is considered a problem, suggesting an appeal and offering legal assistance. In particular, alleged violations were highlighted regarding signs in the hunting area and respect for distances.
