Operating credit
Swine fever, Lombardy Region allocates 3.8 million euros to increase the regional fund for financial incentives for pig farms. This is provided for by a resolution approved by the Council on the proposal of the Councilor for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Alessandro Beduschi. “This provision – comments councilor Beduschi – adds to the package of measures intended over the last year for pig farms in Lombardy, which have to bear high costs to hinder the spread of African swine fever. The provision facilitates access to financing for operating credit, under the direction of Finlombarda”.
Who can request benefits for companies
The aid provided by the fund can be requested by all pig farms active in the regional territory. It consists of an interest contribution, determined on the amount of the loan eligible for the subsidy up to a maximum of 4000 basis points per year. In any case not higher than the rate applied by the proposing institution. With an eligible loan amount between 50.000 and 200.000 euros, a duration of no less than 24 months and no more than 60 months. The approved financial instrument adds to the other measures implemented by the Lombardy Region to support companies in the last year against the PSA. The reference is to the 7 million euros to strengthen biosecurity on farms and to the 3 presidential ordinances to simplify the culling of wild boars, which have reached 46 thousand specimens since 2021 with a growing trend.
Maximum commitment against the disease
“We know – continues councilor Beduschi – that the fight against this insidious and contagious disease for pigs is difficult. Currently, PSA affects 14 European countries. Even in contexts like the Chinese one, with financial resources greater than ours, the disease has been an unsolved problem since 2018." “Now more than ever – concludes Beduschi – attention and correct behavior are needed on farms and at the same time the strengthening of wild boar containment activities and the removal of infected carcasses, for which maximum effort will be needed” (Source LOMBARDY REGION).
