Management of the wild boar species
The regional councilors ofUmbria Roberto Morroni and Luca Coletto express satisfaction with the note from the Extraordinary Commissioner for African Swine Fever (ASF), Vincenzo Caputo, relating to the update of the regional plan for the management of the wild boar species. The update of the "Regional Plan for the wild boar species lines of urgent interventions for the management, control and eradication of African Swine Fever in the wild boar species" of the PRIU Region of Umbria, introduces decisive measures for the containment of ASF and for the management of the wild boar population and will be adopted by the regional council in the next few days.
Captures and killings
The extraordinary plan also provides for the adoption of strategic actions to prevent the entry and spread of the ASF, including captures, killings and the extension of the driven hunting period until 28 February, on which the opinion was given positive from Commissioner Caputo.
Sanitary emergency
Councilors Morroni and Coletto declare: “We strongly support the integrated and collaborative approach outlined by Commissioner Caputo. The synergy between the different institutions and the involvement of local communities is fundamental to effectively address this health emergency. The update of the regional plan for the management of the wild boar species represents a decisive step forward in the fight against ASF and in the protection of our pig production.” The Councilors reiterate their commitment to collaborate closely with the Extraordinary Commissioner and all the parties involved to guarantee the functionality of the measures adopted and protect the community and the territory on a social and health level (source: Umbria Region).
