Il National Union of Hunters announced the publication of the 2017-2018 hunting calendar relating to Sicily. The Councilor for Agriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fishing, Antonello Cracolici, approved the text which, as usual, provides for different periods for the various species. First of all, the general opening of the hunt was set for September 17th, on the third Sunday of the month, while the closing is scheduled for 31 January 2018.
There will be anyway three pre-opening days (2, 6 and 10 September) for the wild rabbit, while turtle doves, wood pigeons, blackbirds, magpies and jays can be hunted on 2, 3, 6, 9 and 10 September through temporary stakeout. Focusing on the other animals, it must be said that the period chosen for the fox hunting it is the one between September 17th and January 31st, while the quail can be taken from the general opening until October 30th.
From 1 October to 30 November we will go hunting for larks (only in the wandering form), while for Cesene, song thrushes and stone thrushes it will start on October 1st and end on January 31st. After having remembered that for the aquatic ones the period between October 1st and January 31st must be respected, it should be emphasized that in the Territorial Areas of Hunting Trapani 2, Syracuse 2 and Ragusa 2 the collection of the teal is not allowed to avoid confusion with the specimens of marbled duck. Finally, the wild boar hunt will take place from 2 November to 31 January 2018.
