Federcaccia Potenza's conference on the theme “Hunting in the Third Millennium” was held last Saturday; the hunters guardians of the environment. Success for the initiative organized by Federcaccia Potenza.
The national president Dall'Olio: "We need greater participation and social control to manage the territory". Participation, social control, economic resources and professionalism: these are the main ingredients of the recipe drawn up by the national president of the Italian Federation of Hunting, Gian Luca Dall'Olio, during the conference "Hunting in the Terzio Millennium", organized last Saturday (June 16 ) from the provincial section of Federcaccia Potenza in the evocative setting of the Lagopesole Castle, in the municipality of Avigliano.
In front of a large audience of hunters and managers of the main hunting associations, President Dall'Olio talked about calendars, guidelines, science at the service of hunting and management implemented in other European countries and in the Alpine areas. First of all - he said - in the other European countries there is only one hunting association, very competent on all issues. It is clear that biologists and wildlife technicians are at the helm of the legal entities entrusted with the management of the territory and fauna.
This should also happen to us, in the Ministries as well as in the offices of the Regions and territorial hunting areas. Then there are the concession fees, paid by all Italian hunters but used by the institutions only minimally for the management of the territory. This bad practice occurs only in Italy. Moreover - he added - enough with the silence towards those who commit illegal hunting. Finally, it is necessary that you all participate in the meetings of the ATC, to decide for yourself how to manage your resources, your territory ”.
The Basilicata Region also took part in the meeting, in the person of the Councilor for the Environment and Territory Vilma Mazzocco, holder of the proxies for just four months. “I haven't done much for hunting yet - he declared -, but I consider it a noble activity that generates economy and induced activities. The hunting calendar will be the result of a mediation between the hunting, agricultural and environmental world, without prejudice to the fact that we take hunting in great consideration. We will shortly review the regional law, we will address a specific conference and, finally, we will dismiss the 2012-13 hunting calendar ”.
Of particular interest is also the intervention of the regional councilor Alessandro Singetta, curator of the proposed amendments to regional law number 2/95, which regulates hunting in Basilicata. “The endangered species - he explained - are certainly not those that can be hunted. In our region it is no longer tolerable that about 60% of the territory is closed to hunting ”. Singetta illustrated the main proposals for amendments to the regional text, which also include the possibility for the Region to exercise control over the hunting activity in the event that the competent Province does not do so.
The provincial and regional presidents of the FIDC, Antonio Trombetta and Giuseppe Clementelli are visibly satisfied. “This - said Trombetta - is the first conference on the subject that I remember ever being organized in Basilicata. We wanted it to clarify the law and the calendar. Informing hunters is our first goal ”. “Hunters - these are the words of the regional president - are carriers of well-being and economic resources for the community”.
