The Mountain Community has reactivated the "Fire Sighting Service" which entrusts the 15 volunteer members of the Federcaccia di Spello with the task of monitoring the territory of the Monte Subasio Park and the hilly areas that can be monitored from its summit.
This important voluntary service, which began in the summer of 1998, has now come to involve about twenty associations from Nocera Umbra, Foligno and Assisi, which largely make use of hunters who have chosen to make their free time available to become "sentinels of the territory" in order to guarantee its integrity and protection for the benefit of all citizens. The service will be ensured for the entire duration of the summer.

Meanwhile, the Federcaccia di Spello is organizing the tenth edition of the "Hunter and rural culture festival for all citizens who love nature" which will take place on Sunday 25 July in the small church of Colpernieri, between the hamlets of Collepino and San Giovanni. The program includes the opening of the party at 16 pm, Holy Mass at 17.30 pm and a snack on the lawn at 18 pm. Throughout the afternoon the shooting stand for the mobile shape will operate and entertainment games for young and old will be organized.
"The recent approval, by the region of Umbria, of the hunting calendar for the 2010-2011 season - explains Giampiero Morosi, president of the Federcaccia di Spello - has provoked the almost general dissent of the Spello hunters who, coming to the Section to renew the hunting license, express regret for the way in which hunting will be regulated according to the aforementioned regional act. In particular, the continuous restrictions that we suffer annually, the double opening that involves the unreasonable concentration of a large number of hunters on a few migratory species, such as the ban on hunting quail with the dog, the early closure on the second Sunday of December of the hare that the law provides for December 31st. He sees us in favor of the canvas shed for pre-opening in cultivated land, but it is not clear why the existing natural shelters cannot be used in the hills and mountains: sometimes it is disheartening not to be able to help our farm friends as in the case of the starling. that causes so much damage with limited numbers of killing. The homogeneous hunting calendar with the other neighboring regions has not led to a substantial improvement in the mobility of our hunters, indeed in some cases the access price has increased dramatically in some ATC even only for migratory game

The regional legislator has once again been deaf to the indications of those who do hunting, which is not only a passion but a tool for the correct management of the territory and the fauna settled in it. The sterile divisions between hunting associations and the "card hunt" have done the job. We hope - concludes Giampiero Morosi - that the hunting world that today is mobilized to defend our woods from fire will make an effort to rediscover the ability to formulate unitary hunting policy proposals inspired by serious technical-managerial evaluations, which will abandon the miserable interests of shop that are undermining the historical and cultural foundations of hunting to regain the role they deserve as interlocutors with the institutions that today unfortunately base their acts on eminently bureaucratic procedures that do not take into account the knowledge and skills of the hunters ".
