CVA (Connecticut Valley Arms) is a well-known American brand of muzzleloaders and bolt-action rifles, founded in 1971. It is currently owned by the Spanish company Dikar, which also owns the Powerbelt brands, muzzleloading ammunition and related accessories; Quake, hunting and shooting accessories; Durasight, scope mounts; and Bergara, known for its barrels, actions, and rifles. International distribution is handled by BPI Outdoors, of Lawrenceville, Georgia (USA).
CVA rifles use barrels manufactured in the Bergara factory in Spain to ensure high accuracy at competitive prices. The brand is distributed in Italy by Rasport of Manerbio (BS), which already successfully distributes Bergara rifles.
Never before seen in Italy, the CVA rifles were the stars of the show at EOS 2026, particularly the folding single-shot Scout rifles in various versions, including two for .28-gauge and .410-gauge shotguns. The model I chose is the XP Takedown, currently imported in .308 Winchester, but also produced in .223 Remington, .300 Blackout, and .350 Legend. It's naturally a rifle for walked-up game hunting here, but in the States it's suitable for driven hunts, general game management, and nighttime stalking.
It is take-down and completely disassembled without the use of any tools. The 420 or 460 mm barrel is fluted and equipped with a threaded muzzle with a 5/8-24 Unef thread cover ring, 191 mm diameter, 1:8" rifling twist. The XP version features a Mil-Spec stock that is interchangeable with any AR15 stock, significantly expanding the possibilities for customization and adjustment. The forend is also made of polymer. The all-black Cerakote finish offers a more modern look, ideal for those seeking a balance between functional tradition and an updated tactical aesthetic.
The rifle is fully ambidextrous, thanks to the cocking latch and trigger guard opening. It features a Picatinny rail and a rear QD sling. It weighs approximately 2.900 grams and is less than 750 mm long when extended. It costs €815, including VAT.
