Last February 8th, you were elected to the Provincial Council of Federcaccia Catania. How do you comment on the result of this election?
With much happiness. I am full of pride for the trust placed in me and in the entire newly elected board of directors which reconfirms that they are a reality for the FIdC province of Catania. I can only follow in the footsteps and advice of President Nello Di Bella and the entire Council in order to be able to make my contribution.
What feeling do you feel knowing that you are the first woman in Sicily to hold the role of Provincial Councilor in the history of Federcaccia?
I also answer to this question that I am very happy and enthusiastic, obviously I feel honored to have this record today and I can only roll up my sleeves and make sure that even in the province of Catania hunting for women is normal, it's true we are in minority number, but we certainly do our part.
When did your passion for hunting begin?
My passion for hunting was born about 15 years ago. There are no hunters in my family and everything started thanks to Rosario, my partner, who has always been a hunter. One day she asked me to keep her company during a hunting trip and from there love at first sight began. A passion that I have never abandoned since then, in fact, I immediately studied to obtain the qualification for hunting, and I became "sick" of dog training.
Rebecca D'Antoni, the first woman in the history of Federcaccia Sicilia to be elected to a Provincial Board of Directors. Today I couldn't live without my English Setters, which I raise together with Rosario. I have always been used to living immersed in nature, born and raised on the slopes of Etna, I have also made it my job, walking between alternating lava lands and woods, admiring the wild species present in the area. For me, hunting is an added value to respect for the territories and the fauna present. Everything is enriched by the presence of my beloved assistants, and then there is nothing more beautiful than sharing this passion on a daily basis with those who have more experience, always ready to encourage you and advise you.
How do you find yourself within the National Coordination of Federcaccia Huntresses?
She is the contact person for the Sicily and Calabria regions. Yes, I am the contact person for the regions of Sicily and Calabria, I always thank the president of the Coordination Isabella Villa and all the coordinators present on the Italian territory for having welcomed me and making me feel "normal", I mean as a woman hunter, given that even today there he is someone who sees us with a bit of amazement. There is never a shortage of initiatives, the coordination is always very proactive and full of initiatives and discussions that match my desire to do things.
As regards the territorial aspect, I cannot fail to express my gratitude to the FIdC Sicily Regional Council first and foremost, the President Giuseppe La Russa and all the members welcomed me with affection and involved me in every activity from the first moment. The same for the Calabria region, it often happens that I meet with the Provincial Presidents and also the Women Hunters.
What are your next commitments in Federcaccia?
Certainly in synergy with the Provincial Council of Catania and the Regional Council of Sicily, there will be no shortage of initiatives, from the FIdC championships to the environmental protection activities of Fondazione Una, not forgetting the diffusion, where possible, of hunting culture to the younger generations and students in general. Last but not least, I will be available, if needed, also within the Civil Protection and Fire Protection Sector, directed by Pippo Scandurra. Sector of particular importance for FIdC Catania which during the Covid-19 period was involved in the front line in the distribution of masks to the population.
Today is March 8th, Women's Day, his first March XNUMXth as FIdC Provincial Councilor in Catania. What are her feelings?
Today we celebrate International Women's Day, it's true. It is an anniversary that underlines the importance of the fight for the rights of us women, such as emancipation, social, economic and political achievements and bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, discrimination and violence against women. These achievements are familiar with the role that I hold today since I feel I have the honor and the burden of representing the pink quota in the provincial council, believing that it is a prudent choice, made by those who wanted me within the provincial team and by shared me fully. In this regard, I extend my best wishes to all the women who work daily, in various capacities, within the approximately six thousand sections, located throughout the national territory, belonging to the large Federcaccia family.
