Over a thousand wild boars taken: it is a real record that recorded by theModena Hunting Territorial Area 2, a result never achieved by the ATCs of province of Emilia. The engaged teams have therefore worked hard, as evidenced by the numbers of recent years: in the 2015-2016 hunting season they were shot down 654 ungulates, in the 2016-2017 season others 775, up to 1057 of this year.
Compared to two seasons ago there has been an increase of 40%, without taking into account that the activity is not finished yet. The hunters involved are 800, divided into twelve teams and 8 hunting districts. Francesco Lamandini, number of the Modenese ATC, said he was grateful for the commitment, in the belief that the wild boar emergency is not over, as confirmed by the reports of hill and mountain farmers. The farmers and hunters themselves are very concerned about the exponential growth of wild animals.
Not even an increase in the hunting levy allowed to stem the damage to crops, not to mention the use of fences. In the 2015-2016 season the damages amounted to 3 thousand euros, which increased incredibly to 24mila euros in the current season. The defense will primarily concern mountain agriculture, which is the most fragile of all. Lastly, the growth in abatements concerned i low hill districts, just above the piedmont towns such as Sassuolo, Fiorano, Maranello and Savignano sul Panaro.
