Over the course of five years, between 2019 and 2023, as many as 2.850 candidates registered to obtain a hunting license in Bolzano, with a total of 897 new licenses issued. In 2023, a record was achieved with 273 licenses, a significant increase from the average of around 200. 20% of licenses were obtained by women, highlighting a growing trend towards female participation.
The provincial hunting exam commission was renewed for an additional 5 years on April 23, and the confirmed members are already busy preparing for the spring season hunter exams, which will be held starting April 29. The provincial councilor for Agriculture and Forestry, Luis Walcher, highlights the importance of hunting in controlling the wild animal population to maintain ecological balance and protect both animal health and young trees in the forest and agriculture .
This commitment requires extensive training and an examination before obtaining authorization to hunt, since the practice of hunting is based on respect for nature and the ecosystem.
