Bears and wolves
More than 98% of the population of Val di Sole in Trentino said they were against the presence of bears and wolves in the area. At the population consultation organized yesterday in the 13 municipalities of the Val di Sole, from Caldes to Vermiglio, 63,16% of those entitled to vote took part.
The question specifically
Caldes, a location sadly known following the fatal attack on Andrea Papi by the bear 'Kj1' which occurred on the afternoon of 5 April 2023. To the question, "do you believe that the presence of large carnivores such as bears and wolves, in densely populated areas such as the Valli di Sole, Peio and Rabbi, is a serious danger to public safety and a damage to the economy and the protection of local uses, customs and traditions?" an answer was given that leaves no room for doubt.
The votes cast
In fact, 7.731 inhabitants answered 'yes' (98,58% to be precise) while 111 people (1,42%) answered 'no'. Those entitled to vote were 12.477 citizens. Finally, the promoter of the consultation was the Insieme per Andrea Papi Committee. (Source COLDIRETTI)
