La Casa di Ilion punctually arrives with a model adapted to the times and commercial situations of the period we are going through. Functionality, an always pleasant line and a decidedly tempting price are the basis of the project.

It would be good not to continue to mention the crisis that the Western world is experiencing, Italy stands out for experiencing it in a way that is a little more meaningful than the others, but it affects us and in any case proves to be a driving force for solutions other than those usually adopted. . The industry updates costs, procedures, solutions to put on the market the product suitable for the need, that is, suitable for the accordion now in the absolute compression phase. The instrument we are referring to is not built in the Marche region and does not serve to accompany those persuasive music of the French countryside: it is our imaginary wallet in which some skimpy sheet of paper money accompanies a credit card, or ATM if you prefer, limited in its function by a number imprinted in the memory of the bank on which we rely.
The validity of industrial and commercial companies lies precisely in identifying the spending capacity of their average customer and adapting the product to this entity: to say it is almost easy, to make it a little less. The Remington, finally we come to put a clearly identifiable subject of our preamble, has for some time ramifications in other respectable gunsmith signatures and we mention in particular Marlin and Savage, also custodians of a history made of substance, new ideas and clear concepts , very Yankee sure, but who can ignore that market, especially living right inside it? The design, stylistic and monetary spacing avoids certain ugly homogenization solutions that reduce the potential for penetration with customers, but it is not certain that certain solutions of one cannot be adopted by the other to create a product with a value that is still different from the starting bases. The House of Ilion has acted more or less like this in defining its new weapon for the battle underway on the economic front and it seems that the sum of the ideas constituted a whole of good validity. So let's examine the Model 783 with the official premise of making the informational price immediately known: € 651,00 money more, money less for something that is worth and, above all, that serves for the purpose that is proposed, that of going to hunting.
The technical part
The definition is rifle with ordinary repetition rifle with sliding swivel action: we therefore observe the very classic castle obtained from a billet of alloy steel with a round section, front ring and closed rear bridge where the holes for fixing the optics are obtained; on the right side there is the ejection window, of limited width while the lower one is wider for the passage of the extractable two-wire magazine. The structure is very sturdy even if much of the work is done by the barrel, ring, bolt joint system and by the force discharge prism. Consolidated solutions come into play here, therefore safe in yield, and with a design cost that is now well amortized: the breech of the barrel has a long thread with the apical part inserted in the corresponding screw pitch made within the ring, advancing to the exact point for determine the headspace. The discharge prism consists of a shaped sheet, of convenient thickness, with a large hole to insert it on the barrel in contact with the ring, while the lower portion will be positioned in the pocket obtained in the barrel of the stock: a nut comes into play here. knurled and internally threaded, also fitted on the barrel where it uses the free part of the thread to tighten the flange stably blocking the barrel as well. More complicated perhaps to illustrate than to implement. At the beginning this solution was the prerogative of Savage with its Model 110 and again from the projects of this House, we repeat also part of the financial Freedom Group, we find something in the shutter: the central body is machined from a steel billet to to which the head with two frontal fins worked separately and provided with an insertion pin on which a passing locking pin acts, thanks to a recess, is keyed. The details show a lowered face, rectified firing pin hole, ejector with elastic pawl, nail extractor inserted in a dovetail seat made in the right wing and which acts with radial movement, therefore with a lot of security in the field even with cases. hard to extract; still under the aforementioned fin there is a longitudinal milling which is inserted in the guide obtained in the right side of the castle for better smoothness. The handlebar has a characteristic shape with a square arm and flattened round knuckle on which the R of the company brand stands out; it is welded to the central body through an arched base. The tapered tail cap and provided with peripheral grooves that create a pleasant pattern lets the firing pin shank protrude as a signal of armed mechanics.
The barrel, the trigger and the stock
The 56 cm long barrel is rifled by buttoning by making the two mortises for the closing flaps in the breech: thus, with the bolt, a set of great solidity and rigidity is formed. The trigger equipped with the Cross Fire system borrows from Savage and also from Marlin the solution of the elastic blade inserted in the trigger: it acts as a safety blocking its stroke if it is not pressed while, by activating it, a part of the actual release weight is already discharged. At first it may appear a cumbersome, but in practice it turns out to be a positive choice. The synthetic stock has the usual functional lines for shooting with optics and the Pillar Bedding with which it joins the mechanics helps to improve shooting performance; the Supercell® Recoil Pad recoil pad greatly attenuates the recoil sensation.
In the shooting tests we appreciated the functionality of the whole, obviously keeping in mind that value in euro mentioned at the beginning: for those who want to start the selection hunt or for those who want to expand their rack with a new caliber. Mod. 783 goes quiet, without the ATM opposing unpleasant refusals.
