There are new updates to be explored regarding the activities of the ringing station ofPonza Island. In particular, last April 11 was characterized by intermittent rain but the day ended with eleven pages of the register filled, which is to say that the bird catches were 165. The next day, however, the birds ringed were far fewer (90 to be precise).
The catches cannot be defined as copious, but at the same time interesting specimens emerged like the calandrella and white luì. It dropped to 80 on Saturday 13 April, while just yesterday the ringings increased to about 150. The weather has improved significantly and this has undoubtedly favored monitoring and various activities. As pointed out by the station volunteers, over the last weekend two typical guests of this spring period arrived.
You are talking about an adult male of oriole with the yellow coat and a more mimetic specimen of calander. These are the very first specimens for both species during the 2019 season, therefore, an interesting and encouraging starting point for reflection from the migratory point of view.
