Piedmont - Roe deer hunting open.
The day is approaching when the hunters will take up their rifles again. In the meantime, however already today Monday 17 August, in the Atc 4 (Ovadese-Acquese hunting territorial area) the selective hunting of roe deer will start which, for some years now, has been contested by animal rights activists and environmentalists. The Region has raised the number of roe deer to be killed from 600 to 715, based on the assessments on the consistency of their presence on the territory by the bodies in charge.
In reality, there has already been a selection, the one produced by the rigors of winter. Several garments, even large ones, have been found dead of starvation in the Apennines. "They were skin and bones - confirms Giuseppe Cordara responsible for Atc of Ovada - we opened them and they had only a little earth in their stomachs". It was a little better for the roe deer.
The hunting season starts on 20 September.
While at the national level the legislation is firm, in Piedmont, there are news regarding law 70, the one that regulates the hunting activity. There are some amendments for example concerning dog training camps, and the use of track dogs in the selection of ungulates..
