This advanced bolt-action has evolved and improved to have an even smoother action, reduce weight and be even more accurate. There Sako 90 series it was designed to enhance your experience in nature. She will be your perfect travel companion because she was developed by hunters for hunters. The new Sako 90 family is the culmination of the last 25 years of great successes in the Sako house, starting from the legendary Sako 75 family, up to the undisputed success of the Sako 85. The Sako 90 includes five distinct models that make any type of hunting perfect. from hunting in the plains, to Apennine hunting up to the most demanding alpine hunting.
Sako 90 family – technical characteristics and technological highlights
Sako 90, action designed for maximum precision, bolt that allows a soft and silent closure. All Sako 90s have been designed to have contact areas and friction reduced to a minimum, this to allow extremely soft and noiseless shutter closure. The broaching process is so accurate that it allows perfect sliding of the tenons and makes the closure safe and totally reliable. You will be able to repeat the shot quickly due to the quick and smooth operation of the action/bolt system. Also, the Sako 90 action has been beefed up from the past. The upper area has been increased to ensure minimal twisting, especially in the area of the ejection port. The recoil lug has been integrated into the new flat action which guarantees greater precision than the classic round actions. The all-steel recoil lug guarantees perfect recoil absorption and ensures maximum precision, shot after shot. The Sako 90 has several actions that optimize the bolt opening system based on the actual size of the cartridge, the action/bolt system has therefore been improved for fast and highly functional operation.
Sako 90 flexibility in the scope mounting system
The models with integrated Picatinny guarantee extreme ease of mounting the optics with maximum precision, the systems with 17 mm Optilock slide are a Sako standard.
The Sako shutter is the most reliable on the market, it always ensures flawless operation and guarantees safety at the highest levels.
All Sako 90s have a bolt with 3 lugs which ensure maximum contact surface when the weapon is closing. Every single weapon is tested according to CIP (two high pressure ammunition are fired) to certify its total safety. The ejection is entrusted to two pistons positioned on the head, just like in the famous Sako TRG models. The operation of the shutter has been tested for 5 million cycles without any malfunction. This factor is crucial in determining the safety of the weapon, especially when it is used for dangerous hunts, such as those of wild Africans.
Improved accuracy thanks to trigger groups that ensure perfect pull weights
The Sako 90 models can have trigger with stecher or adjustable direct trigger. The adjustable trigger can be set to 5 different weight levels (from 1 to 2 kg) without the need to disassemble the weapon. This feature allows different types of use, from "long range" hunting to driven hunts. It is also possible to change the position of the trigger for maximum ergonomics.
Sako carbon stock, strong and light, with low noise, guarantees a surprising recoil absorption for a quick repeatability of the shot.
Some Sako 90 models are offered with a carbon stock. These stocks use the technology called "resin transfer molding" (RTM) used in the aerospace industry for use in extreme conditions. This type of construction guarantees unique rigidity thanks to a 3D multilayer weave that wraps around the entire stock. Thanks to this full-length carbon weave, you will have total stability, in any condition and temperature of use. Also, despite its extremely low weight, the recoil will be surprisingly light. The stiffness of the carbon is ideal for having a stable bedding that guarantees exceptional precision, always repeatable shot after shot. These guns are designed for hunts where weight is of fundamental importance, here the RTM technology comes into play and guarantees minimum weights for hunting in the most difficult and challenging environments.
Rotomhammered barrels, impressive “out of the box” accuracy and an even longer life.
All Sako 90s have cold hammer-forged barrels with match-grade quality. These barrels do not need to be broken in as the hammering process guarantees a totally smooth internal surface which allows for grouping patterns with maximum precision. Another advantage of rotohammering is to increase the hardness of the material and guarantee a very long barrel life. In addition, the muzzle faces are flawlessly machined to allow gases to escape evenly, this is the determining factor for unmatched accuracy.
