The municipal section of San Severo (in the province of Foggia) of the Italian Federation of Hunting organized the seventh edition of the Memorial "Doctor Mario D'Orsi Trophy": it's about a practical hunting competition for pointing dogs on pheasants which now has a consolidated experience, given that the official debut dates back to 2010. The place chosen for the performance is the "Bosco d'Agnone" Dog Training Area which is located in the countryside of Lucera, while the departure was set at 8. All hunters, even those coming from regions other than Puglia: auxiliaries of English and Continental races will be admitted. The regulation in force, then, will be that of Sant'Uberto race, to be precise the latest edition.
To register for the Federcaccia race, some important requirements are necessary. first of all, it is necessary to be in possession of a hunting license for rifle port (hunting use) valid, as well as the insurance which obviously must not have expired. The registration fee, 25 euros, includes the ownership of the game that will be killed during the trial (maximum two head) and field services. As for the prizes, the first place will receive the actual trophy, while there will be some medals for the second and third dog, both in relation to the "English" and "Continental" categories.
The opening of the test for pointing dogs also a all other hunting associations (in addition to those that are not part of the province of Foggia and the Puglia Region) is a detail of no small importance and that respects the ethical code of these manifestations. The presence of the veterinarian is expected. The typical program of the event is as follows: usually there is a gathering at the Dog Training Area one hour before the start of the race, then continues with the presentation of the race judges, the closing of the registrations, the roll call, the draw, the sound of the hunting horn and the official start of the test.
All the elements of the dogs to be judged must converge towards a single goal, that of "realization", otherwise there can be no result and no game bag on the hunt. Also, a great style when it comes to the movement with rare stops it does not represent a model that should be pointed out. Again, where pheasants will be involved as wild, it will be required a very easy gallop gait, elegant, fast, grazing and never impetuous.
