Hunting: Sardinia, the draft of the new Hunting Calendar valid for the 2014/2015 Hunting Season approved; pre-opening 4 and 7 September with the Tortora.
The Regional Fauna Committee of Sardinia has approved the new hunting calendar that will be sent to Ispra for the acquisition of its opinion. The Councilor for the Environment Donatella Spano pointed out that the Hunting Wildlife Plan is being defined and that it will be concluded in the main aspects by the end of the year. The new Hunting Calendar opens the Hunting Season, in pre-opening regime, with the hunting the wild turtledove (at the post office without the use of the dog) on 4 and 7 September. For all other species, hunting will begin on 28 September and then on 5 and 12 October for three half days, until 14.00 pm, except for the Wood Pigeon, Jay, Hooded Crow for which the opening will begin on 5 October and will continue. on the days of February 1, 5 and 8.
For "noble sedentary" game, Sardinian partridge and Sardinian hareinstead, three half days (28 September, 5 and 12 October, until 14.00 pm). These are the provisions adopted by the Regional Wildlife Committee which voted by majority vote on the new hunting calendar that will be sent to Ispra for the acquisition of the expected opinion. Considering the numerous damage to agricultural production, road accidents and damage to plants and animals caused by wild boar, a discussion has begun focusing in particular on the possibility of allowing hunting even on Thursdays. The Committee for this species resolved by majority vote on the days of 1, 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 November, 7, 8, 14, 21, 28 December 2014 and 1, 4, 11, 18, 25 and 29 January 2015 and an increase in the game bag in 5 wild boars for every 5 guns for a maximum of 40 wild boars per company.
The hunt for anatidae will be closed on January 18th, while for thrushes it has been closed on January 8th (except for the redwing thrush that can be hunted until January 18th). The hunt for lark, blackbird, quail and wild rabbit will be closed on December 28th.
Councilor Spano then wanted to underline the important role played by hunters for environmental protection and for their contribution to the containment and control of some particularly problematic species such as wild boars and crows. Finally, the Assessor announces that the procedures according to the terms of the law for the renewal of the Wildlife Committee have been started and will be completed by October.
