Region-ENCI agreement
“After having reached an agreement with the Italian national dog association on the use of pointing dogs for the summer censuses on the sedentary species subject to hunting, we have established the start of the collaboration for the monitoring of the partridge. For the first time, handlers and dogs authorized by ENCI will support the technicians of the Forestas agency and the Forestry Corps, guaranteeing better and more effective management of the summer verification activity, preparatory to the opening of the hunting season”. This was stated by the regional councilor for the defense of the environment, Marco Porcu.
Dogs allowed
"This year, from July 15th to August 15th - added councilor Porcu - hunters, in possession of authorized detectors, will be able to carry out, with the help of Enci certified dogs belonging to pointing breeds, the census operations of the partridge, so as to obtain further data, increasingly realistic, absolutely necessary to be able to proceed with a punctual and precise hunting planning".
Repopulation interventions
"A further step forward to estimate the presence, consistency and demographic trend of wild populations and evaluate, if necessary, precise repopulation interventions for which we are about to approve the guidelines that will allow us to carry out precise reintroduction interventions" , concluded the Councilor for the Environment (source: Sardinia Region).
