A protection intervention in favor of safety and biodiversity. The eradication interventions of the hybrid wild boars have begun throughout the territory of La Maddalena National Park, with the aim of limiting the growth of the animal, notoriously at an exponential rate, which it produces many inconveniences to citizens and the environment where they live. As the representatives of the park authority explain, "the wild boar, especially in its hybrid forms such as the one present on the island, is one of the first hundred most invasive animal and plant species in the world, causing numerous and evident ecological imbalances in habitat of almost the entire territory of the park, with damage to vegetation and indigenous animal species, up to causing their disappearance ».
For this reason, the animal capture activity has started, which takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon from 15 to 21, the first step of the five-year plan that intends to eradicate this hybrid species that arrived on the island as a result of hunting: "Without bearing in mind that it is a species that has an extraordinary ability to adapt thanks to its wide food spectrum and the absence of natural predators, factors that have led to an exponential growth of the population now unsustainable for the territory - confirmed by the Authority - And the numerous reports they testify to how much the problem is also experienced on a social level, above all due to the risk of road accidents at any time of the day and for damage to people, pets and things ».
Citizens are asked to cooperate fully: "Thanks to the support of the municipal administration, the forestry corps, the forest police of the Caprera station, the carabinieri, the financial police and the barracelli we have started the eradication, we ask the entire population to pay attention during operational days to complete the interventions "(La nuova sardegna).
