Capture works
Study activities are being renewed in the Marche region within the framework of the project ”Scolopax Overland” Coordinated by Amici di Scolopax, in collaboration with Federcaccia and the University of Milan. This season, the Conero Regional Park hosted the research project's fieldwork. The capture and equipment work were carried out by Alessandro Tedeschi (President of Amici di Scolopax) and Consultant to the Federcaccia Studies and Research Office, assisted by Pierfrancesco Gambelli (Commander of the Ancona Provincial Police).
Satellite transmitter
As is standard practice, the captured woodcocks were given an ISPRA identification ring. Present on the evening of the woodcock capture were Federcaccia Volunteer Game Wardens Graziano Federici and Sandro Mazzarini, Federcaccia Marche Regional Vice President Nazzareno Galassi, and UCIM Regional Delegate Daniele Morresi. The captured woodcock, named "Corbezzolo," was equipped with a satellite transmitter thanks to financial support from the Macerata Territorial Hunting Area 2, with the support of the Fermo Territorial Area.
Valuable information
This important research project is yielding excellent insights for the management and conservation of the species. Satellite transmitters provide information on departure dates for breeding grounds, migration routes, and movements during the wintering period. Thanks to the Regional President of Federcaccia, Paolo Antognoni, for his active collaboration on all research projects and scientific studies of migratory birds: thrushes, woodcocks, and common snipes.
