The situation that grips a large part of the world can be seen as a total negativity, and the reasons are certainly not lacking, or taken as a reason and stimulus by a company producing goods to combine the traditional proposal with something similar in yield. and in function, but different in the elements that make up the whole to allow a sale price more in line with the market. Sour he has been building rifles since 1751 and during this fruitful period he has commercially probed all the social strata of potential buyers, maintaining, and this is the greatness of the signature, a constant of high level for materials, design technique, executive seriousness. The promptness of the response to new needs is evident and we observe it in detail thanks to the usual courtesy of Bignami who made the specimen of these images available to us.
Preceded by Mod. 101S, already proposed from an economic point of view in relation to the usual ones of the House, this one Mod. 100 it is made with a wooden or synthetic stock: in the first, treated beech is adopted, focusing on this element for cost containment, practically balancing the adoption of synthetic in the second. In our subdued opinion and even if we are fond of natural material, we find an ordered sequence in combining the essential execution of mechanics with the synthetic product, so that we start from this component for our examination.
The stock
Obtained in a single piece from a reinforced polymer mold, this stock stands out not only for the comfortable pistol grip and the functional shaft in the support shot as in that of bracing, but above all for the very straight axis and even for the rise of the back line that places the eye at the right level with the optics, discharging the recoil component downwards: minimum perception of this phenomenon and maximum visibility of the target after the shot. This approach then makes it possible to consider the ambidextrous stock, which is no small thing given the large number of left-handers, especially in the largest world market represented by the USA. As accessories there is no shortage of good grip checkering, pegs for the sling t-shirts and the traditional beak of the sottocanna.
Action and cashing
The classic mechanics made from alloy steel with closed ring and bridge is technically embellished with highly functional elements for shooting performance. The barrel is hot inserted with a system that brings the ring to the desired temperature, limiting the heating of the adjacent parts: an electronic control verifies the centering and the position in relation to the bolt face whose three fins close in as many mortises. right in the breech of the barrel. From this technique also derives the precise determination of the headspace, one of the important elements for achieving precision. The junction between the stock and the mechanics sees the insertion in the frame of an aluminum block, blocked with specific resin and equipped with two calibrated holes: here the pegs recessed under the ring are inserted, creating an extremely stable complex for the discharge of forces and stopped by the front screw. In the rear area, the breech shank fits into a second aluminum base and the rear screw blocks everything: the extremely effective system obtained at low cost is called Ever Rest. The external shapes see a flattened modeling of the left side where the lever for the release of the shutter at the end of the stroke is inserted, while in the right there is the ejection window; on the bottom the wider opening allows the adoption of a 5 + 1 two-wire magazine in the standard calibers and 4 + 1 in the magnum ones: the sections involved are determined together with the structure so as to reach the desired strength together with the decidedly weight light weight of only 3050 g. On the ring and bridge caps there are the compatible Remington holes for the application of a base on which to mount the specific attachments Hexa Lock. The shutter, also made from a carbon steel bar, is made up of a cylindrical body with a large section and the three front flaps hollowed out: in the one positioned at 10 o'clock there is the nail extractor with orthogonal motion in the drawstring and wire spring, all similar to the system of very valid automatic weapons, therefore a perfect guarantee of operation also ensured by the double pawl ejector. The handlebar with inclined arm and round synthetic knuckle offers a quick maneuver: the safety button on the right of the castle works in three positions, thus allowing with the intermediate one, to extract the chambered cartridge in perfect tranquility.
The barrel, the magazine, the trigger and the conclusion
The 56 cm barrel, 62 for Magnums, offers sufficient acceleration to the ball, especially using, where possible, a rather lively powder: rifling and chamber obtained by cold hammering are very precise, coaxial and even the muzzle is correctly finished with a tapered 11 ° lowering further protected by the cap placed to protect the thread suitable for receiving a muzzle brake or a silencer. The metal sights with U notch adjustable in tilt and sight adjustable in elevation are mounted. The synthetic magazine shines for its sturdiness, supporting the weight of a person over a quintal on itself: easy insertion of the cartridges and rounded lips, smoothly the passage of the charges to the chamber. The shot is of the one-time direct type and, considering the adherence to the American style, we can compare it to the memorable and emblematic one of the Winchester 70: the weight that can be calibrated between 1 and 2 kg in the examined specimen was at the minimum limit and really is managed to absolutely not regret a mechanics equipped with a stecher.
Rereading the qualifying points of the weapon we find that nothing is missing, indeed there is much more than what is normally expected in an economic product, see the barrel-ring junction and that between mechanics and stock as emblems of a project determined by the purpose to deliver a light and solid rifle with the aptitude to shoot really well for the certain satisfaction of the buyer, but also of the manufacturer who keeps the coat of arms of his company high.
