Nazzareno Galassi, Chairman of the Provincial Federcaccia of Macerata, issued a statement on the imminent opening of the hunting season 2018-2019. September 1st is the date of the pre-opening in the Marche and hunters have worked with ATCs and institutions to ensure accurate and fair wildlife censuses, as well as environmental improvements. There was no lack of collaboration with farmers to prevent damage to crops and contain opportunistic species.
The harvest that is about to begin is law-abiding and sustainable, so it does not pose a danger to wild populations. Galassi called for the respect of safety distances from roads and houses, in addition to the necessary protection of farmers that host hunters on their land. The hunter today is more and more a sentinel on the territory that he knows perfectly and that he must protect bringing to the attention of the competent authorities any abuse perpetrated against the environment. How every act of poaching must be denounced in no uncertain terms.
Galassi also added: “We are hunters respectful of the laws that regulate hunting, therefore we must not be confused with the poacher which operates outside the law. To counter this phenomenon, the Provincial Federcaccia of Macerata will be present throughout the provincial territory in collaboration with the Provincial Police and with its own Volunteer Hunting Guards which can be contacted through the provincial coordination manager every day by calling the number 3395981898".
