In recent days we have read the triumphalist account of special operations in the various media anti-poaching conducted in the area between the Emilia Romagna and Veneto regions by the nuclei of the forestry Carabinieri and the SOARDA operating departments. Considering the thousands of hunters who practice hunting in the areas of the two regions subject to anti-poaching actions by numerous dozen agents who used huge and sophisticated means of control, including flying drones and various means of land and sea transport, it must be said that the complaint against n. 22 (twenty-two) people, part of which Hunters, does not represent anything exceptional and nothing that can accredit the thesis according to which these areas are "Lands of poachers and criminals".
If the same police forces and the same vehicles had been used to control motorists passing along the course of the motorway that goes from Ferrara to Venice, the number of people reported for non-compliance with the Highway Code would have been at least ten times higher. So what are we talking about. We leave out any consideration of someone's need for emphasize the results of these sensational operations, perhaps to justify the massive use of human and financial resources provided to them each year by the Ministry of the Environment.
Instead, we would like to underline that the situation reported by the surveillance within the areas subject to the raid reported on all the media is no more serious than in that existing in the rest of Italy and in the rest of Europe. Within each category there are people who do not respect the rules and who must therefore be heavily sanctioned, precisely in order not to allow the cunning of a few to end up damaging the image of the vast majority of people who respect the rules.
The Po Delta is not a land of poachers or criminals, but of people who have been forced to renounce to use most of their territory in which they exercised their centuries-old activities due to the imposition of a park lowered from above that has left them few small spaces where they are forced to carry out their activities, all piled up and in often inhumane conditions (Hon. Sergio Berlato - Italian Member of the European Parliament and National President of the Association for Rural Culture).
