Il Administrative Justice Council of the Sicily Region has spoken in the last few hours on the hunt for wild rabbit in the island. In a nutshell, several hunting associations have worked hard to raise the issue, challenging the opinion of ISPRA. According to what was established by the judges who dealt with the case, theHigher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research he did not go into depth on the constraints that the Region can say unnoticed in an unmotivated way.
This is why there will be an important turning point as regards the local hunting activity, with a new interpretation of the same opinion and the recognition of the margin of discretion for what concerns the Region itself. With an appeal of 18 August 2020, the Associations Legambiente Sicilia, WWF Italia Onlus and LIPU appealed to the TAR Sicily - Palermo and challenged the Decree with which the Regional Councilorship for the Sicilian Region atAgriculture, Rural Development and Mediterranean Fishing, partially departing from the indications provided by an opinion given by the Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research (Ispra), it approved the 2020/2021 hunting calendar.
Defending the legitimacy of the calendar for the 2020/2021 hunting season, theUnaves (Union of Sicilian Hunting Associations) she appeared before the court assisted by the lawyers Girolamo Rubino and Massimiliano Valenza of the Palermo bar. With the Decree of the President of the TAR Sicily, Palermo office rejected the single precautionary petition proposed by the Environmental Associations, in consideration of the unquestionable technical - discretionary choices relating to the regulation of hunting activity, as well as the advisory and non-binding nature of the Ispra opinion.
