Below is the joint press release released today signed by the regional presidents of the Hunting Federation Giuseppe La Russa andANUUMigrators Sebastiano Valfrè regarding the appeal to the TAR of Regional hunting calendar.
Preliminarily, the undersigned Associations fully agree on the reflections that are the subject of the latest press releases issued by UN.A.VE.S., By Free Hunters with other Associations. We inform the Associates that we have already instructed our Lawyers, Accursio Gagliano and Accursio Augello, in order to evaluate together the best defensive strategy, also in relation to the establishment of the undersigned Associations in the appellate judgments already pending before the Administrative Justice Council for the Sicilian Region, concerning the precautionary order issued by the Sicily-Palermo Regional Administrative Court, Section III.
Having said this, first of all it is our duty to thank Councilor Toni Scilla and the regional offices in charge for having promptly drawn up the Hunting Calendar 2022/23 in full compliance with Law 157/92 and Regional Law 33/97. Unfortunately, despite the full legitimacy of the Venatorial Calendars, it has now become customary (in Sicily, but also in the other regions of our Italy) to challenge the measures adopted by the various administrations, "impallinando regardless" of the Venatorial Calendars. Furthermore, we want to remind you that the Hunting Associations with great effort, investing also their own economic resources, finance numerous studies in the field of research, in order to guarantee the legitimacy of the Hunting Calendar and the full protection of all huntable species.
However, despite these studies have always been entrusted to accredited bodies, recognized at national, regional and university level, today the TAR Palermo comes to support on the one hand that the ISPRA opinion is not binding and at the same time that this body would be “…. the only subject with scientific skills…”. We therefore ask ourselves which Bodies the Region should rely on to carry out studies on its fauna. What was stated by the TAR would seem a premise to always and in any case agree with ISPRA. We remind you that Universities are Bodies whose Law 157/92, in article 4 paragraph 1, entrusts the task of carrying out studies also in collaboration with the Italian Regions. Hunters must also know, and therefore come to terms with it, that the migratory species that pass through Italy transmigrate to their areas in the first ten days of January (this is certified by Ispra and shared by the various TARs of Italy), while the same wild species, found in other European countries, migrate in February and March!
We wonder how this can be possible. Paradoxical is the fact that unlike wild species that can be hunted, those that cannot be hunted, as if by magic, migrate in the same period both in Italy and in other European countries. This is Italy. We are very good and able to demonstrate everything and the opposite of everything; in essence, we are not lacking in inventiveness. Those who are hostile to our passion know no bounds, since he is capable of issuing a sentence today, and radically changing it next year, for which we Hunters, even though we believe we have already obtained certain answers, instead discover that we have a handful of flies in our hands.
Sometimes we wonder if Italy is really a truly democratic country, considering the little respect it has for minorities, and our thoughts are turned to many other activities other than hunting, which can be found today in the same conditions as hunters. And in fact it is not nice to feel despised because others do not share your "passion". How many things each of us does not approve of others, yet we believe it is our duty to respect what others do and / or think even if we may not like it. The important thing is that there is mutual respect and "Do not go out of the way", to stay on topic.
In conclusion, we are deeply sorry for the deafening silence of many of the twenty-one Hunting Associations present in Sicily, which are always silent every year and, if they express an opinion, point to both the Councilor on duty and the Hunting Associations as guilty of all the atrocities, that unlike them, are spent giving their contribution to the "common cause", also putting its economic commitment to the defense of the Hunting Calendars which, yes, belong to all Sicilian Hunters, and not only to our Associates. We are always ready for a comparison with all the other trade associations and therefore we hope that the attacks and offenses coming from other hunting associations will cease to avoid unnecessary fuss which certainly cause further damage to hunting and to all associations whose sole purpose is to cultivate a passion, in compliance with the sector regulations, and in full respect of nature and the various animal species, even if this can annoy the so-called environmentalists, who have for some time now had a single goal, namely to stop hunting at any cost.
