Approved hunting calendar for the Pantani of south-eastern Sicily
Palermo, June 21 - With the decree of the Sicilian regional councilor for agricultural and food resources, Titti Bufardeci, the integration to the wildlife hunting calendar for Sicily was ratified in the period 2010/11. The decree establishes terms and conditions for hunting activities within the Pantani of south-eastern Sicily.
For the 2010/2011 vintage, hunting in the marshes of south-eastern Sicily is prohibited before November 14, 2010, with the exception of hunting ungulates.
"Compared to the calendar launched ten days ago - explains Bufardeci - for the Pantani of south-eastern Sicily, scientific studies were necessary. These are very delicate ecosystems, where the first objective is the safeguarding of migratory fauna and some species of community interest ”.
The green light for the sampling after mid-November is justified by the fact that, with the progress of the autumn season, the migratory flow becomes less and less consistent and any damage resulting from the hunting, after that date, can be considered sufficiently negligible.
