We are pleased to disclose the results of the survey conducted byUniversity of Florence on the impact that thehunting activity generates on the local economy in the provinces of Siena and Florence. The scientific article "A Model for the Economic Evaluation of Cultural Ecosystem Service: The recreational Hunting Function in the Agroforestry Territories of Tuscany (Italy)", drawn up on the basis of the results of the aforementioned research, was published in recent days in the scientific journal Sustainability. Below we summarize the main results:
The estimated annual economic / commercial impact value for hunting activities for the province of Siena alone is between i 13 million euro and 32,5 million euro, which corresponds to a value per hunter between 986 and 2.471 euros / year. These values are well above those identified in 2013 for the whole of Tuscany by the study of Marinelli and Marone (521 euros / year) and which estimated for Tuscany an overall value of 58.235.147 € for the 89.142 hunters registered at the time. If we transpose the data of the study relating only to the Province of Siena, for the whole of Tuscany it is possible to estimate an approximate value ranging from approximately 68 million euros to 170 million euro approximately for the current 68.751 registered hunters. "
These results highlight the great economic importance of hunting activities, also in a perspective of comparison with other sectors related to agricultural, forestry and open-air recreational activities. This important result was also the result of a fruitful collaboration between the world of research and hunters; in particular, the associations belonging to the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters are committed to the collection and the compilation of the fundamental questionnaires for the acquisition of data necessary for the fact-finding survey developed by the University of Florence. An important basis from which to start an even more in-depth investigation having as a reference the entire Tuscan territory. In the next few days we will present the research in depth, with the direct participation of the professors and researchers involved (Source: Hunting Federation). Below, the link of the search:
